Everybody is celebrating New Year! It represents new cycle or new beginning in life, but still it depends on your perspective, but one thing is for sure we are all preparing for this occasion in every part of the world. We might have differences when it comes to cultures and traditions but it is what it is.
This year we were able to celebrate Chinese New Year in the oldest Chinatown in the world: Binondo. It is definitely a one of a kind experience. I don’t have any idea what is really an old-fashioned Chinese New Year, so I don’t expect anything.
Mei and I don’t have any idea or plans on what to do or where to go, but one thing is for sure we want to eat and explore.
You can really see how Filipino and Chinese community became successful in the Philippines or even in every other part of the world.
It is a lively day!
We watched parades, Dragon dance, street dancing and performances. We were also able to try and experience to eat at a Chinese restaurant that might be an authentic one: Café mezzanine.
We also tried eating at the food park at the lucky Chinatown. We wanted to eat more but all of the food restaurants are occupied, so we decided to walk just around.
One thing that came into my mind is that we need to go back some other time for a Binondo food trip and be satisfied.
